Principles of Design project

Goal: Create a work of art that is in the style of Abstract Expressionism and Hans Hoffman. Remember the following things.

  • Emphasis: there should be a clear focal point.

  • Movement: the shapes lines and colors should create pathways to the emphasis.

  • Rhythm: the repetition of shapes should aid in the movement and the unity of the over all work.

  • Variety: there should be enough different shapes, textures and colors to keep the viewer engaged.

  • Unity: even though the shapes colors and textures are different keep some similarities throughout the picture so that it holds together
