NeevHackathon 2013 – At a glance • NeevHackathon 2013 kicked off on 29 June, Saturday at Neev Technologies, Bangalore office with teams participating from Bangalore, Puneand Delhi (Digitas Mobile team) • An annual hackfest driven by Neevites keen to give shape to their ideas on platforms/frameworks of their choice • A 48 hour code-a-thon where 60Neevites from 12 teams hacked through the weekend on 12 ideas of their choice - ranging from Augmented Reality to Project Monitoring and Gaming to UI enhancements, using 6 different technology frameworks • At the conclusion of #neevhack13, working applications were demonstrated before the entire organization and 6 teams were awarded prizes. All participating teams gotmovie tickets.

Ideas at #neevhack13 Appending Robotium reports Community-based blocking of unwanted calls iPhone application that records the location of bumps on a road Tracking progress of employee referrals Superfeet – A mobile game Bootstrap based UI for Vtiger CRM Moving a car with the help of gestures Invoicing as a Service Redmineplugin for tracking Project progress and Defects Virtually wearing Personal accessories – AR Building a high performance Magento store using Dynamo db Using a mobile camera as a pointing device Visually exploring events across the globe and adding to Calendar

  6. Team: Fish Curry Meals Invoice as a Service - Built on Ruby on Rails Webservices for Invoicing can be invoked from customers’ own application

  7. Team: Minesweeper – Joint 1st Prize winner Redmine QA Reports - Built using Ruby on Rails and HighCharts JS Can be used as a Redmine project management plug-in that makes the job of a PM easier in terms of tracking progress of the tasks and defects

  8. Team: Bandnaam : 3rd prize Magento session handling with Dynamo DB Modifying Magento code to use Dynamo DB for session management, thereby effecting true load-balancing across the App server instances and making Magento really fast

  9. Team: Navigators Project Event Navigators lets one search for events related to his/her interest area across the globe – Built using Ruby on Rails, Google Maps API, Twitter API and Bootstrap And add the event to his/her Calendar and tweet about the event

  10. Team: Maverick Project Camera Gesture Recognizer lets a mobile phone camera recognize gestures made on a surface and act accordingly – like playing the piano on a surface Built on Objective C, iOS

  11. Team: Jarvis – Joint 1st prize winner Technology to depict virtual objects as real – Built using c#, Unity 3D and Blender A virtual wrist watch Demo to show 3D model of buildings and apartments

  12. Team: It Wasn't Me – 2nd prize winner Project Remote-less car is about motion detection using webcam Built using HTML5, JS, jQuery and webGL, the camera would detect the movement of the person in front of the camera and move the car accordingly

  13. Team: Superfeet – 3rd prize winner The game which resembles Mario Bros has been developed entirely on HTML5 and Javascript

  14. Team: Code-a-thon The project for tracking employee referrals in organizations will be used internally at Neev and has been built using Groovy on Grails

  15. Team: Pirates of QA It is difficult to keep track of Robotium reports as current results can’t be added to an existing set of results. Pirates of QA team built a tool using Java and Robotium API to enable appended reports

  16. Team: CallGuard CallGuard is a community-based application for reporting numbers that generate spam. On installing the app, the database of blocked numbers is downloaded locally. Built using Android SDK and Java

  17. Team: NeeVtiger Team NeevTiger Implemented a Bootstrap based UI for Vtiger CRM. Using PHP, Bootstrap and jQuery the team has put a new skin on vTiger

  18. Team: Path Breakers – Joint 2nd prize winner This iPhone app ‘Bumpy’ when turned on records the location of bumps on a road and saves them on a server for other travelers to access later. Built using Objective C and iOS ‘Bumpy’ was developed by Digitas Delhi Mobile Development team
