  3. I rated this internship with 4.5 stars. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because I do not think that any internship could be 100% perfect. The experience, knowledge and skills I have gained is invaluable, and the networking connections here have helped me get a full time job. They have also set me up to advance in the sports industry down the road.

  4. Words of Wisdom • Be proactive, and take the initiative; just because you are not specifically asked to do something, doesn’t me you shouldn’t do it anyway. • Go above and beyond what is asked of you; don’t just be satisfied with doing the minimum, but always try and do the maximum. • Meet people; shake hands and interact with anyone and everyone you can, because everyone is a potential networking contact who could be useful in the future.

  5. Internship Objectives Overall Objective: To gain the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to be successful in the Sponsorship Sales section of the sports industry • Specific Objectives: • 1. Become comfortable making cold calls to set up meetings with potential clients. • 2. Experience and understand the entire sales process, from first call all the way to signing the final contract. • 3. Be able to see the process through to the end, from start to finish, on my own • 4. Become familiar with the fulfillment side of the industry, and understand how to carry out a clients contract after it is signed.

  6. Daily Activities The daily activities for this internship include anything and everything you can think of. It starts out small with tasks like printing and copying, and builds up the more you learn and the longer you’re here. Once you start to learn, then you begin putting together proposals for the staff, and preparing recap packages to show the clients their sponsorship elements in effect. You will work almost every home sporting event for soccer, volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball, and of course, football. At each game you will take care of the guest coach and the game sponsor, and must take pictures of each presentation, as well as all the other sponsorship elements. This is very important when it comes time to put together proposals and recaps. Eventually you will be making sales calls. It begins with prospecting, and then cold calls to set up meetings. From there you will handle the client, making proposals, setting folow up meetings, and trying to close the deal. Running errands, dropping off tickets, picking up packages, printing labels and shipping packages are all possible daily duties as well.

  7. Project Description As the contact person for Aggie Fan Zone, I was in charge of coordinating with all of our client vendors to make sure they had all the correct information each weekend. Before the season began, I ordered, picked up, and mailed out all of the parking and delivery passes for each vendor. I made sure they all knew exactly what time the Fan Zone would operate each week, and answered any questions they had. I also worked with the Athletic Department Event Coordinator to lay out the fan zone area, and then communicated that with all of our clients so that they would know exactly where their set up would be. I helped take care of any and all special needs for each client, and coordinated that with the Athletic Department so that there was no confusion on either end.
