  2. Early Life *Born in June 27, 1880 *Grew up in Tuscumbia, Alabama *She was born with the ability to see and hear but lost it at the age of 19 months due to a disease *By the age of seven she managed to develop 60 hand signs for life at home

Education *Was sent to Perkins Institute for the Blind, which was recommend to the family by Alexander Graham Bell *She learned to read braille but was determined to speak conventally also. *Her education was paid for by Mark Twain and Oil Baron Henry Rogers *She was the first blind person to earn a Bachelor's degree

Political Actives *She was a suffragist,a pacifist, an opponent of Wilson,a radical socialist, and a birth control supporter. *Joined the Socialist Party and wrote for them between the years 1909 and 1921 *Joined the Industrial Workers of the World in 1912, *Overall she was really far left, almost communist

  7. Legacy *She made the public aware of things people with disabilities face like lack of aware of communicating with others *She fought for women’s rights like voting and birth control *She showed that people with disabilities can go on to do great things
