  2. My Aim Today • Describe the Pavement Preservation Partnerships • (focus on the Rocky Mountain PPP) • Explain purposes of the PPPs • Explain how participating in a PPP can help YOU • Bolster membership in the RMPPP • Encourage participation in the TSP2

What are Pavement Preservation Partnerships? • A collaborative effort comprised of pavement preservation professionals including state public officials and agencies; local and federal government officials and organizations; private agencies, contractors; suppliers; and academia with a common purpose to improve and promote the benefits of pavement preservation. (Rocky Mountain PPP Vision Statement)

Background behind the PPPs • An initiative of AASHTO’s Transportation System Preservation Technical Services Program (TSP2) • Funded by states’ voluntary annual contributions to the TSP2 ($20,000) • $9500 supports TSP2 pavement preservation activities • $3500 supports PPP annual meetings, including travel to the annual meeting for 2 representatives of each member state • $10,500 supports TSP2 bridge preservation activities • Staff Support provided by the NCPP

  13. RMPPP By-LawsArticle II: Vision, Mission and Objectives • Section 2. Mission Statement • The Rocky Mountain Pavement Preservation partnership shall provide an ongoing regional forum for Pavement Preservation, with the intent of sharing and exchanging information and data concerning research, design, specifications, materials, construction practices, cost analysis, management systems, and methods of promoting the benefits of Pavement Preservation through education and application.

  14. RMPPP By-LawsArticle II: Vision, Mission and Objectives • Section 3. Objectives: • 1. Promote uniformity of regional guidelines for pavement preservation treatments. • 2. Promote the use of improved materials, equipment, and processes among the member agencies. • 3. implement a comprehensive information sharing process • 4. Establish a coordinated regional research effort. • 5. Advocate policies that integrate system preservation activities. • 6. Publicize pavement preservation findings at the national level. • 7. Advocate common terminology and definitions.

  16. Back to the TSP2… • Invoiced annually by AASHTO • One of the Engineering Technical Services programs • $20,000 per year • Eligible for 100% federal SPR funds
