What is CHP ? • Community – partnership between KU med, pharm, MPH, HIM, PT/OT students & community clinics, charity, and aid organizations • Health – combating health disparities such as obesity, access to care & access to healthy foods • Project – students devise own public health project to fit needs of agency & patient population needs

  3. The Specific Roles • Student Intern • June to end of July • 8 weeks, 32 hrs/wk • $2,500 scholarship • Interview w/ 3 possible agencies of your choice • Weekly Journals • Attend 3 Educational Conferences • Final Project and Presentation • Student Directors • March 2012-2013 • $4,500 scholarship • Assist w/ intern match • Organize, plan, communicate, advocate • Executive – manager • Program Director – community liaison • Education & Evaluation – collect feedback and assist with curriculum

  5. Application Process • Applications Available January • Director Applications due February 3rd • Interviews for Directors (Feb 6-10) • Directors Selected • Can submit one application for both roles • Intern Applications due February 17 • Interns Selected • Interns Interview with up to 3 agencies (March 3-30) • Match Notifications Given (April 3) • 2nd Round Match if needed

Possible Agencies • Kansas City Free Clinic • Rosedale Healthy Kids Initiative • Johnson County Health Department • Sedgwick County Health Department • Silver City Health Clinic • Rose Brooks Women’s Shelter • American Academy of Family Physicians • Or any agency that you are personally interested in…
