Timelines

  • Typical last day of class for Winter 2014 Semester:

    • Friday, April 18, 2014

  • CBD Professional Development Week:

    • Starts Monday, April 28, 2014

    • Ends Friday, May 2, 2014

  • 7-Week Common Development Period:

    • Starts Monday, May 5, 2014

    • Ends Friday, June 20, 2014

  • Typical Common Vacation Period:

    • Starts Monday, June 23, 2014

    • Ends Friday, August 22, 2014


Shifts in work assignments

Shifts in Work Assignments

  • 7-week non-teaching period is applicable to all full-time faculty

  • Some exceptions will exist to meet operational requirements (e.g. off-cycle program schedules)

  • No alternate CBD periods

  • Almost all teaching during the development period will be carried out by contract faculty (excluding exceptions noted above)

  • Coordinators will fulfill Coordinator duties during the development period

  • Development time during the Fall and Winter semesters will be significantly reduced and/or eliminated again this year


Accountability expectations

Demonstrated Return on Investment

  • Development activities and projects will reflect college, school, program, course and individual priorities

  • Activities/projects will be mutually agreed upon between faculty and the Dean and formally confirmed

  • Activities/projects will be outcome-based

  • Faculty will be accountable for completing work plans on time and on budget

  • “Take stock” at end of CBD period; ongoing evaluation/assessment of progress

Demonstrated commitment and engagement

  • Regular on-site participation and availability

    • On-site Tuesday through Thursday each week

  • Same day response times

  • Regular progress reporting

    • Written mid-term and final check-in reports submitted to the Dean/Chair

    • Face-to-face discussions as determined by the Dean
