  2. What is OPAT? OPAT is a FREE program for parents of children birth to aged three. OPAT supports parents to become effective first teachers, and helps parents prepare their children for a successful school future

  3. What Does OPAT Offer? • Personalized Visits • Parent Group Meetings • Resource and Referral • Developmental Screenings • Early Partnership Between Home and School

  4. Personalized Visits Provide • Certified Parent Educators from your public school • Frequency- Once a month for 45 minutes to 1 hour • Tools- age appropriate “learning kits” with books and play ideas to support you in helping your child play to learn

  5. Parent Group Meetings Provide opportunities to • Discuss developmental stages • Share parenting experiences • Obtain information and activities to encourage your child’s development

  6. Resource and Referrals • Connect parents to community resources • Provide referrals to appropriate professionals in your community • Encourage your child's development

  7. Developmental screenings • Informal vision screening • Informal hearing screening • Ages and Stages developmental screening twice a year

  8. Early Partnership Between Home and School • Makes transitioning from home to school easier • Provides resources from the school district to support parenting • Emphasizes the critical role parents have in school readiness

  9. Bartlesville Public Schools Parents As Teachers Program is Unique! We are fortunate to have Monica Reynolds our Bilingual Parent Educator on our staff!

  10. And our newest Home Visitor: Laurel Bradley Laurel supervises the Early Childhood Education workers in the Even Start program and does home visits for both Even Start and OPAT!

  11. Who is eligible and what does it cost? • Expectant parents and parents of children birth to three-years-old in participating school districts. • OPAT is a FREE program through the Oklahoma State Department of Education and Bartlesville Public School district.
