Rosaries help you count your prayers and devote yourself to Catholicism, however, there is a lot more about them you should know. We have put together a small informational on the meaning and history behind the rosary so you can feel more connected to your faith.

  3. HOW DOES A ROSARY HELP? It is a way for you to pray while keeping the events and mysteries of history in your mind. Each bead of the rosary helps you count your prayers. Collectively, all the beads are together known as a rosary.

  4. WHAT IS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE ROSARY? When people think about Catholicism, the rosary is one of the first things that comes to mind. The vision of people praying to the Lord with a rosary by their side is probably something you are well versed with as well. That is how significant the rosary is in having a good relationship with the Lord.

  5. THE HISTORY OF THE ROSARY MYSTERIES A rosary has twenty mysteries. All of these mysteries are divided into five main mysteries. Each of these five mysteries corresponds to the rosary’s five decades. There are Five Joyful Mysteries. These are prayed on Mondays and Saturdays and are related to the birth of Christ. Then, there are Five Luminous Mysteries. They are prayed on Thursdays. Pope John Paul II instituted them back in 2002. 

  6. The Five Sorrowful Mysteries are recalled on Tuesdays and Fridays. They are regarding the death and suffering of Jesus.  The Five Glorious Mysteries are prayed on Sundays and Wednesdays. They are a reminder of the resurrection of Jesus as well as the glories of heaven.

  7. HOW TO PRAY WITH A ROSARY There are many prayers that you can use. Some of the most common ones are: • Apostle’s Creed • Hail Mary • Our Father • Glory Be When you are praying a decade, keep this in mind: It has a single Our Father, ten Hail Marys, and one Glory Be.

  8. THE PROCESS OF PRAYING TO A ROSARY First, you need to remember that the rosary has 59 beads. Then, you need to follow this in your prayer: • Say the Apostles’ Creed when you are on the crucifix. • Say Our Father on the large bead. • Pray three Hail Marys when on the three following small beads. • Pray the Glory Be when you are on the chain.

  9. When you are on the large bead, say your first mystery followed by Our Father. • Pray 10 Hail Marys on the next ten beads while saying the mystery. • Pray the Glory Be when you are on the chain.
