  1. Welcome to 7th Grade Mrs. Greenberg Pre-Algebra & Life Sciences Room 307

  2. Introduction • Graduate of Fallbrook High School • Graduate of University of California, Berkeley • Teaching Credential – Long Beach State • 1990 began teaching at E. Hale Curran–4th grade • Murrieta Elementary in 1992 (3rd grade) • Shivela Middle School 2009 (6th grade for 3 years)

About Me • Live in Temecula - since 1991 • My husband of 23 years owns Westmar Property Management in Temecula • I have 2 daughters • Sarah – junior at Great Oak HS, plays Varsity Golf, & in is in the IB program • Rebecca – a 7th grader at Hillcrest Academy & is a level 7 competitive gymnast at SCEGA • We enjoy traveling (this summer we traveled to Belize), going to the beach, and having family Wii night

  5. MATH What does Math Class look like: • Get books, supplies, & HW out • Fill in Agenda • Warm Up • Correct Homework • New Lesson with notes • Practice problems • Begin HW in class if time

  6. MATH - assessments Assessments will include: • 10 point Quizzes every few lessons • Chapter Tests – 100 points • Mid Semester Test – 100 points • End of Semester Test – 100 points

  7. MATH - Curriculum What will be taught: • Algebraic Expressions & Integers • Equations & Inequalities • Decimals & Equations • Factors, Fractions, & Exponents • Ratio & Proportions • Data Analysis • Percents • Linear Functions & Graphing • Irrational Numbers

  8. MATH - Homework • Four days per week Mon.-Thurs. • On all math assignments students must: 1. Write the problem 2. Show all their work 3. Box their answer 4. Answer column on the right side

MATH - Homework • HW is worth 2 points when a grade of 70% or more is received • Students who complete the assignment with a grade of 69% or lower will receive 1 point. • REDOs (69% or less) maybe corrected and turned in for the full 2 points (assuming the redos are correct) • No Extra Credit for Math

  10. Life Science What does Science Class look like: • Any of the following: 1. Cornell Notes with reading 2. Experiments & Labs 3. Hands on activities 4. Demonstrations 5. United Streaming & Bill Nye videos 6. Essential Vocabulary 7. Review Questions

  11. Science - Curriculum Life Science • Scientific Process & Measurement • Living Things • Classifying Living Things • Organisms & the Environment • Cell Biology • Genetics • Evolution & Change • Structure & Function of Living Things • The Human Body

  12. Science – Assignments • Most of the work in Science is done in class, homework will be given 1 or 2 times per week • Each unit will have a: 1. Project (most of the time) 2. Packet (all the class work & homework for the chapter) 3. Test • All 3 will be worth 100 points each • Extra Credit will be available once per chapter and will be on the packet outline.

Assignments for Math & Science • Must use college ruled paper • Must have supply of plain white copy paper • Paper from spiral notebooks may not be used • Proper Heading on all papers in the top right hand corner: First & Last Name Date period • Papers must be titled to reflect assignment • Papers with No name will be put in no name basket • Assignments will not be accepted after 1 week past the original due date
