The Living Stone and a Chosen People
4 As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him—
5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
6 For in Scripture it says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame."
2 Samuel 7:1-3
1 After the king was settled in his palace and the LORD had given him rest from all his enemies around him,
2 he said to Nathan the prophet, "Here I am, living in a palace of cedar, while the ark of God remains in a tent."
What influence has success on you?
28 All this happened to King Nebuchadnezzar.
29 Twelve months later, as the king was walking on the roof of the royal palace of Babylon,
30 he said, "Is not this the great Babylon I have built as the royal residence, by my mighty power and for the glory of my majesty?"
2 Samuel 7:3
3 Nathan replied to the king, "Whatever you have in mind, go ahead and do it,
for the LORD is with you."
2 Samuel 7:4-7
4 That night the word of the LORD came to Nathan, saying:
5 "Go and tell my servant David, 'This is what the LORD says: Are you the one to build me a house to dwell in?
6 I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought the Israelites up out of Egypt to this day. I have been moving from place to place with a tent as my dwelling.
7 Wherever I have moved with all the Israelites, did I ever say to any of their rulers whom I commanded to shepherd my people Israel, "Why have you not built me a house of cedar?" '
Acts 17:24 The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands.

Peter's Confession of Christ Mat 16: 13-18
13 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, "Who do people say the Son of Man is?"
14 They replied, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets."
15 "But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?"
16 Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."
17Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven.
18 And I tell you that you are Peter
and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it (John 1:42 You will be called Cephas…)
8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them: "Rulers and elders of the people!
9 If we are being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a cripple and are asked how he was healed,
10 then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed.
11 He is " 'the stone you builders rejected, which has become the capstone”
12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."
Acts 4: 1 (Peter)
He is 'the stone you builders rejected,
which has become the capstone’
The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone;
(or cornerstone> the headstone of the corner (Pinnah)
(top of the building, pyramid)
Jesus: Matthew 21:42 (Marc 12:10; Luke 20:17)
Jesus said to them, "Have you never read in the Scriptures:
" The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone”?
1 Peter 2: 8
"A stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall”
He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation
on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because
it was well built.
2 Samuel 22:47 (Ps 18:46)
"The LORD lives! Praise be to my Rock!
Exalted be God, the Rock, my Saviour!
May the words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight,
O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.
