  2. 6th grade social studies MEAP • Can cover all Michigan history • American history through 1792 • 10 multiple-choice items each of History, Geography, Civics, and Economics • 6 multiple-choice items of Inquiry (1 five item cluster and one item in each Decision-Making) • Two persuasive essays (one is field test)

  3. 9th grade social studies MEAP • American history 1763-1900 • 10 multiple-choice items each of History, Geography, Civics, and Economics • 6 multiple-choice items of Inquiry (1 five item cluster and one item in each Decision-Making) • Two persuasive essays (one is field test)

  4. 11th grade (MME) assessment • American History: 1890-Current (Age of Imperialism) • 10 multiple-choice items each of History, Geography, Civics, and Economics • 7 multiple-choice items of Inquiry (1 five item cluster and one item in each Decision-Making) • Two persuasive essays (one is field test)

  5. In general… • Sixth and ninth grade assessments do not change • MME is strictly timed: 50 minutes for each part; ~20 minutes for essay • MME essay is double scored: total 22 max points for writing and social studies • Social studies does “count” for merit award! • MME: students may start with the essay, but MUST stay within Parts 1 or 2

For MME Writing : Scored by two independent MME scorers, using new MME persuasive writing 6-pt. rubric Scored for persuasive writing Contributes to MME Total Writing Score For MME Social Studies: Scored by two independent MME scorers, using standard MEAP social studies 5-pt. rubric Scored for social studies content Contributes to MME Social Studies Total score Double-scoring the Social Studies Response
