Hag Fish • Class: Agnatha • Scientific Name: Myxineglutinosa • Common Name: Hag Fish • Environment: Fresh water • Scientific Facts: -Weakness- slow moving -Attacking- they eat their way into the victim's body and leaving only the skin and skeleton -Adaptation and their defense is it’s dangerous white slime when feeding, distressed, or threatened -Slime comes through glands along length of body and protects it from attacks, and could even threaten or suffocate predators • Extras -Favorite Food- Mud Pie w/ Gummy Worms (They prey on small invertebrates living in the mud). -Greatest Fear- Wallets ( some wallets are made of hag fish skin). -Favorite Band- HagFish (punk rock band).

Stingray • Class: Chondricthyes • Scientific Name: Dasyatisacutirosta • Common Name: Stingray • Environment: Oceans and fresh water • Scientific Facts: -Attack- they attack by piercing it’s stinging barb into the unwanted organism. This barb can re-grow -Weakness- Predators include many sharks and humans -Adaptation - they have been able to move from salt water to fresh water -Defense is their barb which can sting predators and prey • Extras: -Favorite Color- Ocean Blue -Favorite Place To Eat- Fish-Head BBQ on Arapahoe and I-25 -Worst Moment- When Steve Irwin died from a stingray attack on Sept. 4 2006

Sea Horse • Class: Osteichthyes • Scientific Name: Barbouri • Environment: Shallow tropical temperate waters found around the world • Scientific Facts: • Adaptation - horse-like nose which gave them their name • Weakness - their beauty, which attracts humans to industrialize them • Defense- speed, however they get tired easily • Range - from 2-8 inches • The only animal which the male has the young • Extras: -Greatest achievement- 150 linked sea horses! (sea horses like to link together by their tails, and swim). -Greatest Quality- patience (sea horses have to be patient and wait for their food to float down near them, or see them crawling on the bottom of the sea floor). -Greatest Fear-storm roiled seas (sea horses die of exhaustion when caught in storm roiled seas because they are weak swimmers).

Poison Dart Frog • Class: Amphibia • Scientific Name: Dendrobatesazureus • Environment: Rain Forests • Scientific Facts: -Weakness- sensitive to temperature changes -Attacking- Their poison can instantly kill predators and prey. This poison comes from them eating insects, which have eaten plants with the toxins. -Adaptations- bright colors, and it’s poison -Toxins help prevent fungi and bacteria from forming on the frog‘s moist skin. Extras: -Greatest Achievement- Killing a predator that was many times my size! (Poison Dart Frogs can even kill humans). -Favorite TV Show- Timon and Pumbaa, they have a great taste in bugs! (Poison Dart Frogs eat insects that can be found on the rainforest floor). -Greatest Fear- Frog Legs

Crocodile • Class: Reptilia • Scientific Name: Crocodylidae • Environment: warm waters, either salt, fresh water, or brackish water (salt and fresh water mixed). • Scientific Facts: • -Adaptations- when swallowing underwater they have a fleshy "palatal" valve at the back of their throat to help prevent drowning. • -Attacking-They use the sensors on their backs & snouts to sense vibrations • -Defense- low incidence of infection from serious injuries due to its immune system • -Weakness- when hit in the nose they loose track of their sensors • -The gender of crocodiles depend on the temperature in which the eggs are in • Extras: • -Favorite TV Show- Crocodile Hunter • -Favorite Place to Eat- At a Buffet (Crocodiles will eat anything they can catch!) • -Greatest Fear- Crocodile skin handbags

Emu • Class: Aves • Scientific Name: Dromaiusnovaehollandiae • Environment: Open and semiarid regions in Australia • Scientific Facts: -Adaptation-The emu can run up to 30 mph for short distances, sometimes taking strides that are nine feet in length. -Defense- emu can strike heavy blows with its strong legs, easily breaking bones or tearing muscle -Weakness- Humans, Emu habitat is declining rapidly because of competition from farmers and ranchers. Eggs are sold as souvenirs with drawings on them. • Extras: -Favorite Activity- Swimming (Emus can swim for long periods of time). -Greatest Award- Second largest bird in the world -Dream- Ability to fly

Gerard Way • Class: Mammalia • Scientific Name: Homo sapien • Environment: Found all over the world (Gerard is currently found in California). • Scientific Facts: -Adaptations- Scientists believe that lighter skin evolved to allow people who lived in the climates closer to the poles the ability to capture more sunlight to make Vitamin D. -Weakness -Gerard has a fear of needles -Defense- Intimidating makeup -Attacking- Motivational speeches against people who can’t except people for being who they are • Extras: -Idol- His grandma inspired him to be who he is today -Greatest Moment- Marrying his wife, Lyn-Z -Favorite Food- vegetarian lasagna
