  2. The Writing Process Powerful communicators know that planning is the key to good writing. Planning is an important part of the writing process that includes 5 basic steps.

  3. The 5 Basic Steps of Writing Prewriting Drafting Revising Proofreading Publishing

  4. Prewriting This step you plan what you are going to write. You choose: A topic Identify audience and purpose Brainstorm ideas Organize information

  5. Drafting It is when you write your ideas in sentences and paragraphs, follow your pre- writing plan to write your first draft of your composition. Then carefully arrange the information according to your plan.

  6. Revising This stage is the first part of editing your writing . You may work by yourself or with a partner or a group. Make changes that will improve your writing

  7. Proofreading In this stage you finish your editing by polishing your work. Check for errors in grammer, spelling,capitalization, and punctuation. Make a final copy of your composition.

  8. Publishing Finally you choose a way to present your work to an audience . You may want to add pictures, make a class book, or read your work aloud.
