  2. Schedule for installation • Beam obstacles Review of Hardware commissioning

  3. Production schedule • Collimators • Preliminary data, subject to discussions with company Review of Hardware commissioning

  4. LHC collimators • Collimators with different angles • Vacuum interconnect modules Review of Hardware commissioning

  5. Collimator project • Responsibilities in AB, AT and TS Review of Hardware commissioning

  6. Hardware commissioning requirements • Prerequisites for Hardware Commissioning: • Installation completed • Water and Electricity • Control Network available • Vacuum and bake out done • Access to the tunnel Review of Hardware commissioning

  7. Phase I • Preparation on Surface 2006 - 2007 • Equipment assembled on surface • UHV Test of the system • Commissioning of the full system on surface (Motorisation, monitoring, cooling, vacuum) • Relative alignment by metrology of the moving components, calibration of motors and encoders • Align with reference to the planned position in the tunnel • Underground work summer 2006 - 2007 • Installation of the support units and alignment with mock-up • Check the cabling (motors, controls, interlocks) (done by cabling service) • Connect to the cooling circuit • Vacuum chamber connection • Verification of the alignment Review of Hardware commissioning

  8. Hardware commissioning requirements Review of Hardware commissioning

  9. Conclusions • This is a first discussion on the collimator commissioning • Some iterations are needed (Lab tests, final set up) • The design of some collimator types is not yet finished (special design for two-in-one type) • One contract with industry for all collimator types • Two full working prototype have been installed, commissioned and operated in the SPS, summer 2004 • Plug-in system will ease the installation and commissioning • specific check list for each component under production(end 2005) Review of Hardware commissioning
