Scope of the study • Text of the Convention on Biological Diversity: all implementation-oriented articles appear to have relevance to banking and business sectors • Decisions adopted by six meetings of the Conference of the Parties: over 50 decisions contain provisions related to banking and business sectors

Defining the Banking and Business Sectors • Various terms used in COP decisions • “The private sector” is a more commonly used term. • Implicitly the banking sector is included in the term “funding institutions” • The term “business” may be considered to include all relevant sectoral and cross-sectoral activities
