  1. Welcome to Hawkshead Hill Baptist Church - An Eco Congregation

  2. The Good News: Is that God sent Jesus to reconcile us with each other (near and far) and with the whole of God’s creation. Colossians 1:2o

  3. At Hawkshead Hill we are celebrating and journeying together in God’s Creation. - making the link between our Christian Faith and ‘living lightly’, with each other and with our environment.

  4. An Eco Congregation is an award. • It recognises that a church is trying to live more in keeping with the full Christian message. We are seeking to honour God, respect our environment and support communities: locally and globally.

  12. Many Chapel members have made eco friendly changes in their homes and lifestyles

  14. 17 Christians from Hungary help us rebuild: (New insulated floor & roof)

  15. Our local community also helped us

  16. Rebuilding our toilets and making them wheelchair accessible Then Now

  17. We have new eco friendly boilers for chapel & manse and use ‘green electricity’

  18. Our new Upper Room for those in need of a quiet space in a Christian environment

  19. Restoring our garden after rebuilding work

  20. And maintaining the grounds in an eco friendly way

  21. ‘Sanctuary and haven of peace for people and wildlife’: Youth initiative

  22. Come and enjoy our ancient wildlife graveyard

  23. Our garden is rich in natural beauty & biodiversity (see our nature diary) ‘The whole site is currently being sensitively managed with wildlife in mind’ Cumbria Wildlife Trust Survey, July 2008

  24. We belong to the Quiet Garden Trust: A Christian Ministry of Hospitality and Prayer

  25. Our Poustinia: a once derelict pig sty has been ‘recycled’ as a place for contemplation, retreat & prayer

  29. Our community celebrate with us our Chapel 300th Anniversary (2009)

  30. Chapel & local community celebrate harvest - juicing our apples (2010)

  31. We are a Fairtrade Church

  32. We welcome passers by to enjoy our chapel, garden & Fairtrade drinks

  33. Us at Churches Together Stand at Hawkshead Show: Sharing Jesus with our Community. An opportunity to make a miniature garden, rest, reflect and pray

  35. Our Chapel was part of the Ambleside Area ‘Go Green Trail’ in 2009
