  3. Goals "Fostering leadership, learning and empathy between cultures was and remains the purpose of the international scholarship program." – Senator J. William Fulbright Exchange programs aim to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and other countries, through the exchange of persons, knowledge, and skills. http://moldova.usembassy.gov

  4. Fulbright Scholar Program • Non-degree grants to senior researchers, university lecturers, or experts in different fields • Applicants must have a doctoral degree or equivalent professional experience • Scholars conduct research in the Unites States http://moldova.usembassy.gov

  5. Fulbright Faculty Development Program • Provides Moldovan junior university professors an opportunity to explore curriculum development and teaching methodology in the United States • Applicants must have at least two years of professional experience http://moldova.usembassy.gov

  6. Fulbright Science and Technology Award • Provides exceptional students with an opportunity to pursue Ph.D. study at top U.S. universities. • Eligible fields of study include Biology, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, and Public Health (biostatistics or epidemiology).   7. Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program • A one-year, full scholarship program offered to mid-career professionals for independent study at one of the leading universities in the United States. • Applicants must have a proven track record of leadership, public service commitment, and the capacity to take full advantage of a self-defined program. http://moldova.usembassy.gov

General Qualifications Citizenship of the Republic of Moldova and permanent residence in the country Proficiency in written and spoken English Eligibility for a U.S. J-1 visa (two-year home-country residence requirement) For the Fulbright Scholar Program, a doctoral degree or equivalent professional training is required. For the Fulbright Faculty Development Program, applicants must have at least two years of university teaching experience. For the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship, applicants must have a university degree and at least five years of substantial professional experience. http://moldova.usembassy.gov

  10. Selection process • Applications submitted by the deadline • Examination of applications • Interview • TOEFL (Fulbright Faculty Dev. and Humphrey ) • Recommendation of finalists to Foreign Scholar Board (FSB) • Approval of finalists by FSB http://moldova.usembassy.gov

Program Specifics • All applications must be submitted on-line • Invitation – encouraged, but not required • Dependents – there is an option to bring dependents; please call us for specifics • TOEFL – required for Humphrey and Faculty Dev. • Grant length – Faculty Dev. and Humphrey are for one academic year; Scholars can request from 3-9 months, depending on research topic; Science and Technology awards are the for the full course of Ph.D study. • Fields – • Scholars – any field • Faculty Dev. – teaching methodologies and curriculum development • Science and Technology – 18 topic areas, including Computer Science, Engineering, Neuroscience, and Physics • Humphrey – 12 topic areas, including Educational Administration, planning, and policy http://moldova.usembassy.gov
