History 1815: Founded as „k. k. polytechnisches Institut" (being the first University of Technology in todays German-speaking geographical area) 1865: First reform (restructuring, implementation of faculties, concentration on technical disciplines) 1872: Renamed to "k.k. Technische Hochschule" (TH) (new organisational statute, lasts until 1945)

Research Internal co-operation : 8 interdisciplinary "Centres of Excellence" EU-Projects: Acquisition of over 50 projects in 7th framework programme (number one in Austria, status: 11/2008, source: PROVISIO) Acquisition of 126 projects in 6th framework programme (funding EUR 28.6 Mio., 2002 – 2006) Acquisition of 129 projects in 5th framework programme (funding EUR 23 Mio., 1998 – 2002)

  9. Studies According to the Bologna Agreement all offered studies (except teacher training programmes) have been offered as bachelor and master programmes since October 1st, 2006.
