Objective: To quantitatively (measure) and qualitatively (observe characteristics) analyze a compound according to its chemical formula.

CAMILLE GADSDEN-LOCKE

slide7
NOTE: In the table above, chemical formulas for some common household items are listed.
  • Question: What is a chemical formula?

CAMILLE GADSDEN-LOCKE

slide8
Answer: A chemical formula is a shortened way of expressing the name of a compound using symbols and numbers

A chemical formula is very similar to a recipe, because like a recipe, a chemical formula provides information of what and how much

  • what elements are in the compound
  • how much of each element is in the compound

slide12
DIRECTIONS: Carefully analyze each set of power points and determine, through explanation, whether corrections are necessary:
  • to improve readability with appropriate font (bold, italic, color) and/or font size
  • to improve visual acuity through format/color of text

slide13
Which of the PPT presented would be most appropriate to use for viewing. Why?
  • How does font size contribute to visual acceptance?
  • In the PPT slides, which colored background enables acceptable focusing on the print.
  • Changes on some of the PPT slides are necessary, select one and describe those changes.
  • During class discussion and through assignments, four to six different fonts were studied. Name the styles of fonts used in the PPT slides.
