  2. Barry Sadler was himself in the Green Berets. There were no songs showing the honor and valor of our soldiers in Vietnam. So he made a song and it quickly climbed to the top of the charts, this song was “The Ballad of the Green Berets.”

  3. Captured weapons 60mm mortars, 57mm RR’s, and .30 cal machine guns.

  4. U.S. First Cavalry Division captures an NVA soldier. This one man held the entire Division for an hour.

  5. Though the medic was wounded himself he still cares for his wounded brothers in arms.

  7. A U.S. platoon under fire from Vietcong. Soldiers came under fire many times in Vietnam from the NVA and Vietcong.

  9. An ammunition dump was struck by a mortar in front of the U.S. Marines. Mortar attacks and rocket attacks were never in short supply during the war.

  10. Wounded U.S. Marines at a first aid-center were treated before being air-evacuated. The heavy use of helicopters as evacuation devices was crucial to many soldiers lives.

  11. Members of the 5th Mechanical Division crossed the Can Lo River, south of Con Thein. M48a3 tank, the heaviest tank used during Vietnam. It had a crew of four, 90mm main gun and a coaxial .30-inch machine gun, and a externally mounted .50 caliber machine gun.

  12. CH-47A Chinook helicopter, used for large troop transports, ammunition, and light vehicles. This one is transporting ammunition for the 1st Cavalry Division Airmobile troops near An Khe in south Vietnam.

  13. UH-1B “Huey” armed helicopters of the Light Helicopter Attack Squadron three. Gunners are firing down on a target below them. They team up with River Patrol Boats on search and destroy missions in Mekong Delta.

  14. U.S. Navy Hovercraft delivered 95% of the Vehicles, ammunition, fuel, equipment, and other military supplies that entered the ports of South Vietnam.

  15. The OH-6 light observation helicopter was used for scout missions. They would fly ahead of U.S. infantry units and find what they are heading into.

  16. This is a member of the SEALs team. He belongs to SEAL team one. SEAL stands for SEA, AIR, and LAND. This is the Navy’s special forces. In Vietnam the Vietcong and NVA called them the “men with green faces”. The Navy SEALs were formed in 1961 by JFK saying they needed a maritime counter-part to the U.S. Army's special forces.

  17. U.S. Marines taking cover behind a tank while it prepares to fire over the wall to the enemy position. Tanks provided much needed help to the infantry on the ground. But the cavalry doesn’t always come to the rescue.

  18. A U.S. soldier cleaning his M-60 machine gun while dug in around the U.S. base camp. Cleaning your weapon was essential to your survival in Vietnam. If your weapon was not cleaned regularly it would malfunction during use and could lead to your death from that.

  19. Tunnel rats are men who would go through VC tunnels and check things out. Not knowing what could be around the corner. Some of the tunnels were only 12 inches wide. These soldiers were paid more than other troops, and would often end there tour of duty sooner than the other troops in there company.   20. These are trained military dogs used to find booby traps and sniff out the enemy. They would save entire platoons of men and would ward off ambushes. Dogs saved many men's lives in Vietnam.
