Regulations • Stop the movement of economically important plant pests in commerce. • Target either a particular pest or its host(s). • Target infested areas • Made at the Federal or State level based on impact. • Commonly called quarantines. • Usually offer an acceptable sanitation routine to allow movement.

General Considerations • If shipping plant materials • Plan 12 months in advance • Whenever possible, ship bare root and free from soil • Courtesy compliance for Japanese Beetles and Fire Ants • Free from nematodes of regulatory concern • Nematode sample results or nematode certification program • If possible, minimal green foliage • If needed, growing season inspections/testing

  8. General Considerations • If shipping seed • Plan 12 months in advance • If needed, conduct growing season inspections • Ship free of damaged seed and foreign material • No soil • If needed, apply seed treatments
