  1. Oceans 2025 Core Funding Five-year programme which will fund six positions at NOCS for maintenance and development of NEMO ocean models. - providing underpinning for UK NEMO activities. - Also POL and PML (NEMO-Shelf). NOCS focus on multi-decadal hindcasts, basin- to global-scale. - with biogeochemistry and carbon cycle, 64 levels in vertical. - To investigate ocean variability, particularly storage of heat, freshwater, and carbon, and mechanisms involved. Development of new parameterisations of: - Eddies and related mixing - Mixing due to internal waves (thermocline and deep ocean) - Sills and straits Ice - help to embed properly into ocean - improve descriptions of ice melting and formation New ecosytem model developments (testbed) Coupled climate model (CHIME) run with z-, s-, and isopycnal coordinates in the ocean, could inform choice of vertical coordinate system in NEMO.

  2. Runs required 2007-2012 1° global + biogeochemistry 1/4° global + biogeochemistry 1/12° N. Atlantic + biogeochemistry 1/12° S. Ocean + biogeochemistry 1/12° global - physics only (+ new parameterisations) 2007 1° global done, next step to add biogeochemistry 1/4° global, physics only; and/or 1/12° Atlantic. 2008 Add biogeochemistry to 1/4° global Continue/start 1/12° Atlantic How best to fit these with other model runs being undertaken elsewhere in the NEMO community?
