What is a ‘miracle’? • An event not ascribable to human power or the laws of nature and consequently attributed to a supernatural, especially divine, agency. • Jesus’ miracles are often split into 4 categories: • 1. Cures • 2. Exorcisms (casting out demons) • 3. Resurrection of the dead • 4. Control over nature

  3. The Miracles in John • In the Gospel of John there are 7 miracles: • 1. Changing water into wine (John 2:1-11) • 2. Healing the Nobleman’s son (John 4:46-54) • 3. Healing the paralytic at Bethesda (John 5:1-18) • 4. Feeding the 5000 (John 6:5-14) • 5. Walking on water (John 6:16-24) • 6. Healing the man born blind (John 9:1-7) • 7. Raising of Lazarus (John 11:1-45)

  4. Water into Wine (Jn 2 : 1-11) • Christ as “good wine”

  5. Healing the Nobleman’s Son (Jn 4 : 46-54)

  6. Healing the Paralytic at Bethesda (Jn 5 : 1 – 18)
