  2. A memoir is: - how one remembers one’s own life. • Describes a special MOMENT in a person’s life. • Uses 1st Person “I”, “My” - memoir comes for the word “memory”.

  3. Examples of Memoirs are: • Thank You, Mr. Falker • The Memory String • First Paycheck Memoir Poem

  4. A Biography is: -an account of someone’s life written bysomeone else. -a person’s life written, composed, or produced by an author. -written in 3rd Person “He”, “His”

  5. Examples of a Biography is: The Story of Thomas Jefferson Justin Bieber – The Unauthorized Biography Barack Obama – Becoming Barack

  6. An Autobiography is: -an account of a person’s ENTIRE life written by that person. -the biography of a person written by that person. • Is a way to organize the story of a life and reflect on the past in order to better understand the present. - Uses the words: I, me, my, mine….

  7. Examples of an Autobiography are: Through My Eyes by Ruby Bridges Miles To Go by Miley Cyrus

  8. Paired Work 1. Read each passage. 2. Determine if it is a Memoir, Biography or Autobiography. Be prepared to defend your answer using your handout. 3. Complete the Venn Diagram comparing and contrasting the similarities and differences between a Memoir, Biography and Autobiography. Be sure to write the passage title in each.
