  1. Starter Task • Put a post on your blog: • What tasks do you need to complete today? • Use the skills progression triangle if you need to learn a new skill today (downloadable versions can be found on the website).

  2. Session Aims • What are you learning today? • The aim of this session is to introduce you to Appendix 10: Treatment. • To begin work of Appendix 10. • Ensure that you blog is up to date.

  3. Session Aims • What must you be able to do by the end of the lesson? • You must know what you need to do to complete Appendix 10: Treatment. • Your blog must be up to date by 15/02/13. (I will be checking it over the weekend!).

  4. Session Aims • Why are you doing this? • This will fulfil Assessment Objective 2: plan and construct media products using appropriate technical and creative skills.

Appendix 10: Treatment • Finalise your ideas for your magazine and create a video treatment of the product you want to create (no more than 5 minutes in length). • Front Cover • What is your magazine called? What is your final masthead design? • What will be your cover image? Illustrate using real magazines with similar covers as well as your flat plan. • What is the magazine’s price/frequency? • What will your cover lines, strap lines, sell lines etc. be? • What will your house style colours be? • What other images will you need for your cover? • Will you have any cover mounts (if you are giving away posters you will need more images.)?

Appendix 10: Treatment • Contents Page • What contents will your contents page feature? • What will your section headers look like? • Page number designs. • What images will your contents page have? Illustrate using real contents pages as well as your flat plan. • What will your house style colours be? • What other images will you need for your contents page? • What about… • Subscription information? • Editorial? • Pull quotes? • Photo credits? • What else might your contents page need to have on it?

Appendix 10: Treatment • Double Page Spread • How many pages are you going to do (at least two, but you could do more)? • What images will you need (and how many)? • What will the title of your double page spread be? • What is it about? • How many columns will you need? • What fonts will you be using? • What about Strap lines. • Bylines and photo credits. • House style elements - section titles, page numbers, masthead, web address, etc. • Will you have a side bar? • What about captions? • Pull quotes? • What other design elements will your double page spread require?

Appendix 10: Treatment • Deadlines • Appendixes 1 – 9 must be on your blog by Friday 15/02/13. • Your pitch and pitch video must be on your blog by Friday 15/02/13 if you want feedback. • Appendix 10: Treatment must be on your blog by 26/03/13 (first Tuesday after half term). • Your video summary of Steve’s talk (principally the Health and Safety rules) must be completed by 26/03/12.
