Tropic Atmospheric Conditions: Dry and Moist Regions with Sharp Borders

Explore the characteristics of the tropics above the boundary layer, where dry and moist regions coexist with sharp borders. Discover how factors like rain efficiency, surface temperature, humidity, anvil area, high clouds, and Le Chatelier's Principle contribute to the dynamic equilibrium of the tropics.

  1. We see that the Tropics above the boundary layer is made up of regions that are very dry and regions that are very moist.

  2. Sharp borders in the tropics high atmosphere RH • Rain Efficiency SST or surface T, by surface RH • Lower (RE) higher anvil area • Anvil area the surrounding humidity • High clouds and high atmosphere RH LW trapping 3 factors: Dry Moist Cloudy

  3. Le Chatelier's Principle “If a dynamic equilibrium is disturbed by changing the conditions, the position of equilibrium moves to counteract the change.”

  4. However, the points raised by HM02 hardly constitute challenges to the hypothesis.
