  1. Preterite of HACER QUERER and VENIR The verbs hacer, querer and venir have irregular conjugations in the Preterite tense. They all have a stem change where they have an “i” in the stem. They also all have the same endings. HACER – to make / to do yo hice nosotros hicimos tú hiciste vosotros hicisteis él/ella/Ud hizo ellos/Uds hicieron **Notice that in the he/she form, the “c” changes to “z” for pronunciation purposes! Also note that with a complete stem change there are no accents !

  2. VENIR – come yo vine nosotros vinimos tú viniste vosotros vinisteis él/ella/ud vino ellos/uds vinieron

  3. QUERER – to try / to refuse yo quise nosotros quisimos tú quisiste vosotros quisisteis él/ella/ud quiso ellos/uds quisieron

  4. The verb querer has different meanings in the Preterite tense. In the Present tense it means ‘to want/wish’. In the Preterite tense it means ‘to try’ in an affirmative sentence and means ‘to refuse’ in a negative sentence. Quise ayudar. I tried to help. No quise ayudar. I refused to help.
