When you locate a book by its call number, it’s likely to be surrounded by books on the same topic, or on topics closely related to the one you are researching.

Take a few moments to explore nearby titles. Look in their indexes for your topic.

  • Note recurring call numbers from your online catalog searches.

  • Go to the library shelves and scan books that are in and near that call number.

  • Check the index of promising titles for your subject terms.
