  1. I can use the distributive property to write and simplify real world problems. I can successfully solve 4 out of 5 classwork problems. Warm Up Use the Distributive property to simplify the expressions. Remember to combine like terms. 1.) 4(t – 5) + 6t 2.) 9 + 2(3x – 2) 3.) s + s(4 - 2)

  2. Write & evaluate an expression using the Distributive Property. Mom bought five sheets and blankets.  The sheets cost $15 each, and the blankets cost $7.  How much was her total bill?  Think: What do the two items have in common? 5(15 + 7) 5*15 + 5*7 75 + 35 110 so $110.00

  3. Write & evaluate an expression usingthe Distributive Property. You and three friends went to a Rockies game. Each ticket cost $20 and all the people bought abaseball hat for $15 each. How much did you spend altogether? 4( 20 + 15) 4*20 + 4*15 80 + 60 140 so, $140

  4. Use the expression to create a word problem of your own, then evaluate. 4 ( ½ + 3/4 ) Once the word problem is written, share with your shoulder buddy.

  5. I can use the distributive property to write and simplify real world problems. I can use the Distributive Property to successfully evaluate 2 out of 3 classwork problems.

  6. ClassworkUse the DP to evaluate the real world problems. • Francesca is making earrings and bracelets for four friends Each pair of earrings uses 4.5 centimeters of wire & each  bracelet uses 13 cm. How much wire did Francesca use to make her gifts? 2. Each day, Martin lifts weights for 10 minutes and  runs on the treadmill for 25 minutes.  Find the total  minutes that Martin exercises for 7 days. 3. Six friends are going to the state fair. The cost of one  admission is $9.50, and the cost for one ride on the Ferris  wheel is $1.50. Write two equivalent expressions & then find  the total cost.
