  2. Importance Secures a program of study Is a Title 5, State Education Code, requirement Grants permission to qualify for the degree Is a pre-requisite for beginning the culminating experience

  3. Eligibility • Achieve classified standing • Complete 9 graduate-level program units at Fresno State • Satisfy the Graduate Writing Requirement • Fulfill departmental requirements (e.g., DQE, Subject GRE, or the foreign language requirement) • Earn a minimum 3.0 program GPA

  4. Process • Access the advancement petition from the Graduate Division Web site, www.csufresno.edu/gradstudies • Obtain all required departmental signatures on the petition • Submit advancement petition to the Division of Graduate Studies office by the published deadline
