8. MS InfoCard “InfoCards” are virtual ID Containers in the PC / Windows context:
Provide common UI experience: simplify ID Mgt, standard UI and APIs
Integrated with browser, email and other PC clients
“ID Selector“ manages InfoCards on PC
“ID Provider” securely issues “claims” to PCs
IDs, security tokens, passwords, certificates, other credentials
“Relying Party” (web service) sends requests to ID Selector on PC:
User chooses which InfoCard to use and what data to release
MS wants InfoCard to be open; will publish APIs
Based on WS-* (web services) standards (OASIS)
Distributed ID Mgt (in contrast to MS Passport)
Plans include implementing Federated Trust
