What is Web 2.0? – The READ/Write WEb • The term Web 2.0 is associated with web applications that facilitate participatory information sharing, interoperability, user-centered design and collaboration on the World Wide Web. • Web 2.0 sites allow users to interact and collaborate with each other in a social media dialogue.

Examples of Web 2.0 Themes • Collaboration • Tools that enable people to work together • Photo Books or Scrapbooks • Allow users to create visual stories from their digital photos. • Digital Storytelling • Tell a story using technology tools. • Quiz Makers • Create a secure, professional web-based online quiz • Graded instantly – saving hours of paperwork.

  4. Examples of WEB 2.0 themes • Gradebooks: • Track student progress online and calculate course grades • Social Bookmarking • Share bookmarked sites, provide resources to students, useful for keeping students on task • Presentation tools • Move beyond PowerPoint • And many, many more!!

What are some Social Bookmarking applications? • They are defined online as: • Diigo: Great tool if you browse web using different computers and browsers • Portaportal: A web based bookmarking utility that lets you store links to your favorite websites online; no longer limited to any one computer • Delicious: Delicious helps you find cool stuff and collect it for easy sharing
