  2. Definition • Also known as an enjambment, a run-on line ends without a pause and continues into the next line for it’s meaning and logical and grammatical sense carries over from one line into the next.

  3. Syllables • A run-on line can appear using any type of rhyme pattern • What differs this line from others using the same rhyme pattern, is the enjambment reinforces the meaning.

  4. Reasons? • To rhyme words with no or hard rhymes. • EX. The Unrhymable Word: Orange by Willard Espy • a- The four eng- b- ineers a- Wore orange a- brassieres • To create witty jokes or trickery through seemingly finished statements later to be explained. • EX.
