  2. RARE INFO • Is one of two living species of Alligator. • It is native to only to the Southeastern United States. • It is larger than the extant alligator species, the Chinese alligator.

  3. Scientific Name The scientific name for the American Alligator is mississippiensis

  4. Size • Adult male alligators are usually 13-14.7 ft. long. • Females are usually 9.8 ft. long.

  5. Why are they endangered? • Poachers were hunting them illegally and you are not supposed to hunt them at all

  6. FACTS!!!!!!! • The alligators eat bird, fish, mammals, turtles, snakes, and amphibians • They live in the Everglade National Forest
