Purpose of ACHA Coalitions • To provide a multi-disciplinary issue oriented organizational mechanism from all regions for continuing education; advocacy; knowledge, standards, and professional development. • To enhance channels of communication between members with different professional identities from all regions to address issues based strategic initiatives of the Association. • To expand membership recruitment and participation opportunities. Goal 1 • ACHA will support and promote systems and programs that produce optimum health outcomes for college students and campus communities. • The National Health Objectives in Higher Education Coalition will translate national health objectives (Healthy People 2020) into campus-based objectives and will create additional objectives that are specific to the needs of college students and campus communities. ACHA NCHA 2000-2007 Trends and Healthy Campus 2010 Midcourse Review

  6. Goal 2 • ACHA will be the primary source of information, education and consultation on health and health promotion issues affecting college and university students within the campus community. • The National Health Objectives in Higher Education Coalition will publish Healthy Campus 2020 (including a getting started on your campus section within the publication.) Goal 3 • ACHA will be the leading source of evidence-based knowledge about the field of college health. • The National Health Objectives in Higher Education Coalition will relate college health objectives to available data sources. Goal 4 • ACHA will be the principal advocate for national policy affecting the health of all college students and campus communities. • The National Health Objectives in Higher Education Coalition, utilizing the Healthy Campus 2020 document will assist with identifying key areas in need of changes in public policy.
