  1. Warm up 01-14-14 • Question: Name some topics to study for your ch 17 test • Answer: • Chem vs. phys change, chem equations, conservation of mass, balancing equations, formula mass, classifying reactions • Goal: I will perform a double replacement reactions.

  2. ELEMENT OF THE DAY • 48 – Cadmium – Cd • Cadmium, like mercury and lead, can accumulate in the environment and the body, and hence can cause long term damage to all forms of life. • Cadmium is most famous for use in nickel-cadmium (ni-cad) batteries, which you should recycle for the reasons mentioned above. These are being replaced by lithium ion and nickel metal hydride. • Cadmium-plated fasteners are used on bolts on airplanes because they don’t rust or corrode. • Cadmium sulfide makes a bright yellow pigment, but like many older paint pigments, it is toxic.

  3. Bellwork / New & Good • Review previous labs • Double replacement • PbNO3 + NaI PbI + NaNO3 • Homework • Pg J - conclusions • Ch17 Test Thursday • Mid Term 1/30 Agenda
