  3. According to Ericsson’s research: If people have less than 20 minutes spare time, they engage with their cell phone (smart phone), if they have more less than 2 hours, they go for their tablets and if they have more time then they engage with their notebooks. Thus one gadget does not replace the other one, they complement each other. The prediction is: people will continue watching TV, but those TVs will be different from today’s. By 2020, 50 billion machines will be connected to each other. What People Do with Their Machines?

HBBTV is European initiative and have supporters in UK, Germany, Italy etc. Tivibu is Turkish example. Web TV only broadcasts through the net and yet service providers broadcast programs. In Turkey, advertising was not allowed for web TV. IPTV is the future. It enables customized broadcasting, customized advertising, large possibilities of interaction. 6. What do Turkish people watch? Turkey is a television nation mostly watching television dramas, news programs, reality shows. Satellite TV is still the leader with approximately 90% penetration. Locally produced dramas are being sold to many Middle Eastern and Balkan countries and even to Far Asian countries. According to Calinos Holding CEO, the 60% of prime time TV in Middle East, Kazakistan etc broadcast Turkish TV dramas. By 2023, 400billion dollars will be earned through this exportation of TV dramas, currently it is around 60 billion dollars. Turkish youth use and share mostly videos on the net. The leading video site is izlesene.com (user generated content). There are also editor generated content video sites. According to major actors in the sector in Turkey, Turkish users do not produce content yet consume more. RTUK, RATEM, Turk Telekom are working on IPTV and they see this technology will dominate the future of broadcasting.
