  3. Content of HFA databases HFA-MDB: 1. Age-standardized or crude mortality rates for 67 causes of death and 16 age groups 2. Population by 5-year age groups 3. ICD version used Approx. 2500 indicators Time series from 1980 48 European WHO Member States

Cause-of-death coding systems in the raw mortality data used for HFA-MDB • ICD-9 3- and 4- digit codes • ICD-9 BTL codes • Special ICD-9 BTL codes for some ex-USSR countries • Special tabulation list of 175 causes used in some ex-USSR countries • ICD-10 3- and 4- digit codes • ICD-10 mortality tabulation condensed list No1 (103 causes)
