  5. Project Schedule Forecast (current best guess) RFI Response RFI Evaluation RFP Business Case and Cost Projections RFP Specifications RFP Document RFP Bid Process

  6. RFI Vendor Response Schedule

  7. RFI-Related Milestones (after submittals received) * Most dates are guesstimates, based on the schedule of committee meetings over the past year

  8. Evaluation of RFI Responses • Evaluation Team • SRWG Members • Randy Rhodes, David Franklin, Mark Graham, Branden Sudduth • Sara Majok, Mark Mallard, Thong Trinh • Javi Munoz, Sami Abdulsalam, Tito Inga-Rojask, Hayk Zargaryan • TSS Members • Kyle Kohne, others? • Evaluation Process • Read through all responses • Summarize vendor response codes (A – F) for each RFI item • Summarize maturity of the application space itself • Summarize vendors’ position in the market (ref. Gartner’s Magic Quadrant) • Ability to execute • Completeness of vision

  9. Writing an RFP– a first-draft schedule Task Start Finish

  10. Getting RFP Approval – a first-draft schedule

  11. Current Questions • Can this project succeed without a consultant or project manager? • Needs: • Ability to focus constantly on this project • Neutrality with respect to vendors and utilities • Project management skills • 2010 Budget includes some funds. • What is the process for contracting this resource? • Best to start in Oct/Nov 2009 to get sizing estimates complete • Is an RFP required? • WECC can choose alternate procurement methods • Joint iterative workstatement development is possible • What is the critical path? • A budget request for 2011 must be presented at the January 2010 TSS meeting. • A budgetary estimate must be prepared in advance. How? • How can we accelerate the RFP (if required)? • Draft schedule shows presentation of RFP to board in May 2010 • This is a best-case scenario - must navigate committee review/approval dates
