Based on the different types of characteristics that Lord Ganesh possesses, idols can be classified into different types. Here are some of the different kinds of murtis of Lord Ganesh. Bal Ganesh: The Bal Ganesh murti, as the name suggests is the childlike avatar of Lord Ganesh. The idol holds up mango, banana, jackfruit, and sugarcane in each of his four arms. He also holds his favorite food “Modak” in his trunk. The items in each of his hands are a symbol of abundance and fertility. Taruna Ganesha: This form is the youthful version of Lord Ganesh. It has eight arms, in each of which he is holding goad, modak, noose, rose apple, wood apple, some paddy, sugar cane, and tusk. This idol is reddish and signifies a burst of youthfulness.

  2. Vira Ganesh: This is the warrior form, standing upright with sixteen arms, in each of which he holds weapons, signifying his powerful mind. This form looks brave, bold, and commanding. Bhakti Ganesh: This form is calm, pleasant, and radiates the energy of the full moon. The idol is covered in flowers from head to toe. He holds mango, coconut, banana, and a bowl of sweet in each of the four hands. Bhakti Ganesh is said to always be showering his blessings on his devotees and is a favorite among many. An understanding of the different types and characteristics of Ganesh idols would help one figure out the right idol that they might want to bring home.
