  1. Karwa Chauth Pooja Rituals Karwa Chauth Pooja Rituals Karwa Chauth is the occasion on which married women keep a daylong fast for their husband’s wellbeing and prosperity. The fast is only broken after seeing the moon, after which the husband gives the first morsel of food to the wife after the whole day fast. Karwa Chauth Pooja and how it is done: Karwa Chauth Pooja: Karwa Chauth Pooja is performed late in the evening when the married woman worships Goddess Parvati. Traditionally, the karwa Chauth pooja is performed with a group of women where the elder women in the family tell the tale of Karwa Chauth to the other married women.

  2. Karwa Chauth Pooja Thali Decoration: The thali is an important part of the Pooja. Traditional decorations with Alpana or rangoli is generally done on the Thali. Floral designs with fresh flowers can also be done on the thali. A Karva is usually placed in the center as the symbol of Lord Ganesha and along with a glass of water, fruits, flowers, matthi, food grains, and an idol of Gaura Mata. One portion of this is presented to the goddess and the eldest female who narrates the story of Karwa Chauth. All the women light up the diya while listening to the story and in the end, hands over the thali to the eldest member of the family. After the pooja, the women wait for the moon to rise so that they can break their fast by looking at it and then completing the rest of the rituals with their husbands. The Karwa Chauth fast helps in strengthening marital bonds and adding sweetness to the relationship between husbands and wives.
