  1. Rotary Florida eClub

  2. Rotary Founder Paul Harris In the beginning… • The first Rotary Club was organized in Chicago 23 Feb 1905, by Paul P. Harris. • The club, starting with four members, met in rotation at the offices of the members - thus the name Rotary. • There are currently more than 34,550 clubs with over 1.2 million members.

  3. Rotary is an International Organization • RI is in 208 Countries • 34 Zones House 532 Districts • We are District 6980 • Five Counties of Central Florida • Sumter, Lake, Orange, Seminole, Osceola • 49 Rotary Clubs + Youth clubs

  4. Rotary International is governed by a president and a board of directors elected from all over the world. 2019-20 PresidentMark Daniel Maloney • Every two years each Zone gets a new Director • Annually each District elects a Governor 2019-20 Theme

  5. THE FOUR-WAY TESTof the things we think, say or do 1. Is it the TRUTH? 2. Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3. Will it build GOOD WILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

  6. Service Above Self • Rotary was not long to recognize that fellowship alone would not keep a group together — there needed to be a purpose. • First project was publicwashrooms in downtownChicago. • Second project was a horse to replace a rural physician’sonly transportation to service Juliet patients. • Rotary became the world’s first “service club”.

  7. Object of Rotary The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster: • First. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

  8. Object of Rotary • Second. High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying by each Rotarian of his or her occupation as an opportunity to serve society;

  9. Object of Rotary • Third. The application of the ideal of service by every Rotarian to his or her personal, business and community life; • Fourth. The advancement of international understanding, good will, and peace through a world of fellowship of business and professional people united in the ideal of service.

  10. We implement the objects of Rotary through the Five Avenues of Service

  11. Club Service--Those things that a Rotarian does to help make the club successful. Vocational Service--The promoting of the “ideal of service” throughout the business and professional world. Community Service--Urges every Rotarian to participate in all activities which make the community a better place in which to live. International Service--Encourage and foster the advancement of understanding and good will among people of the world. Youth Service--Recognize the importance of empowering youth and young professionals through leadership development programs, Rotaract, Interact, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, and Rotary Youth Exchange.
