La county NURSE WEEKCELEBRATION & CE EVENT Dr. ARUN PATEL, MD, JD, MBE, FAAP Director, Quality, Patient Safety & Risk Management, DHS Presents JUST CULTURE Healthcare with Fair Accountability to Improve the Reporting and Reduction of Errors and Unsafe Conditions ArunR. Patel is the Director of Quality, Patient Safety, and Clinical Risk Management for the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services. He is a general pediatrician and an attorney. Immediately before joining Los Angeles County, Dr. Patel was a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Policy Fellow in Washington, DC, where he served in the Office of the Secretary of Health and Human Services and on the staff of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. Prior to joining the fellowship, Dr. Patel was practicing as a healthcare attorney. Previously, Dr. Patel worked in the neonatal intensive care unit at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where he also served on the hospital ethics committee. Dr. Patel received his M.D. at the University of Mississippi, his J.D. at Stanford University, and his B.A. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. After completing a pediatric residency at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, he completed a master’s degree in bioethics at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Patel is board certified in general pediatrics and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
