  1. Incan Civilization Sydney Goombi 5th period

  2. Religion • The Incans were poly-theistic. • Incans believed that the ruler Descended from the sun god, Inti. • Inti was responsible for bringing prosperity and greatness to the Incan State.

  3. Economy • The Economy of Inca was agriculture based. • Land was organized into upper and lower units, Each unit produced goods the others could not. All units were linked together to create a Total Economy. • Government was responsible for most trade that happened throughout the civilization.

  4. Architecture and Art • The Incans were very Architectural advanced. They Engineered one of the earliest Road systems. Creating a 14,000 mile long network of roads and bridges. • Artwork consisted mainly of sculptures of their Gods

  5. Agriculture • Were one of the first civilizations to plant potatoes. • They also grew corn, sweet potatoes and Cassava (type of starchy root) • Terrace farmed and created irrigation systems. • Came up with the first freeze-drying method to help keep large amounts of food indefinitely.

  6. Origins • The Incan Civilization lasted from 1463 – 1532 AD • Originated in Cuzco, in Southern Peru.

  7. THE RISE AND FALL • Pachacuti took the throne of the Incan civilization and soon after, conquered all of Peru. • The Incan States expanded all the way through Ecuador, Chile, and Argentina. • The Incas called this empire “Tihuantinsuya” meaning “Land of Four Quarters” it included 80 provinces and over 16 million people. • In About 1525, disease broke out throughout the civilization, The ruler at the time, Huayna Capac died from disease causing His son’s to break out into a civil war over the throne, This War ultimately caused the fall of the Incan Civilization.

  8. Where is the Incan empire you ask? Southern Peru. Soon grew and spread outward in all directions.
