Chronic Diseases: Why This Matters • Chronic diseases include: • Heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes, asthma • Can often be prevented through: • Healthy diet, physical activity, eliminating tobacco use and substance abuse • Managing chronic diseases is important because: • The diseases are very costly • Effective management can prevent more serious complications
