Feminist criticisms of Rawls • Benhabib: “We can aspire to Rawl’s ‘universal’ notion of justice, but it must be supplemented by an emphasis on caring for others by acknowledging the realities of individual lives” • Male centered: concern for fairness fails to address the female sphere of domestic relations and children

  4. Feminist critique continued • Public sphere has priority; domestic sphere is devalued • Fails to address the importance of relationships
