  1. Holzcluster Steiermark • Founded in 2001, the company develops and implements projects along the entire value-added chain of the wood industry – and focuses most of its work on timber construction.

  2. Holzcluster Steiermark Wood as a key Styrian strength • The Province of Styria has over 1 Mio. hectares of woodland, making it Austria’s most extensive wooded region. With its 5,300 enterprises, the forestry sector and wood industry form one of Styria’s most significant industries and provide jobs for 56,000 people.

Holzcluster Steiermark • Holzcluster Steiermark sees its role • in facilitating networking between business, science and politics, • as driver of innovation activitieswithin the forestry sector and the wood industry, • in promoting internationalisation efforts primarily in South-Eastern Europe and • in providing services for companies in the forestry sector and wood industry

Short Description: Sharing and transferring technical and organizational know-how Target group of ID:WOOD project are the support organizations dealing with the wood sector - technology centres, RDAs, universities, research and design centres, the productive sector, SMEs, policy makers, chambers of industry and commerce and sector associations. Stakeholders are given the opportunity to strengthen their organizational and technical capacities, to develop new functions, to participate to working groups and to be actively involved in the networking activities.

  13. 3rd Cluster Management Course in Slovenia • Second Day , 7th of November • Design and wood - Innovative services and innovative wooden products for furniture • Introduction: Creative industries in Slovenia (Ministry, Faculty of Design). • Design of Products and Ambient in wood (ISIA Roma, Faculty of Design, Zavod BIG). • Workshop: Design as a way for raising competitiveness of Cluster members. • Visiting the Month of Design exhibition.

Act 4.2 : Fostering innovation skills in the wood sector supporting structures Innovation course : Green Building with Wood • Duration: 1st till 3rd of October 2013 • Location: Serbia, Belgrade, Forestry Faculty Technical course wood and furniture : Basic to safe, functional and fine furniture • Duration: 22nd till 24thof October 2013 • Location: Romania, Sibiu

  15. Bridging the gaps between productive sector and knowledge poles Each project partner will: • Undersign Memorandum of Understanding with local knowledge pole • Organise two dissemination events together with the local knowledge pole • Present the competitiveness development project

Memorandum of Understanding Purpose: • To foster innovation and competitiveness of SMEs in the wood sector • To share and transfer technical and organisational know how to SMEs • Rising SMEs capacity to implement innovation processes • Strengthening the network transnational and national cooperation capacity Objectives of MoU • Specific technical dissemination activities at local level • Competiveness development project for local SMEs • The delivery of joint support activities
