Twain uses imagery throughout the story to vividly depict the real world and the events that a common man may encounter. Twain uses ridiculous stories to show the ridiculousness in real life.

  3. He uses colloquial language to help the reader more accurately view the characters in the story. You can learn a lot about a person by how the y speak, and Twain uses this to his advantage. • The narrator is very intelligent to show how unintelligent Wheeler is.
