A little about myself • I graduated from Brigham Young University. • I taught 9th grade, 10th grade, and AP 12th grade Language Arts last year. • My first year at Willis Junior High and am very impressed with the administration and faculty here. • I am excited to prepare your 8th grade students for High School.

  7. Writing • Creating a hook • How to write a killer thesis • Transitions • Concluding paragraph • Using detail, figurative language • Conventions: punctuation, sentence structure • Editing and peer editing

  8. Quarterly independent reading projects • Quarter 1: from Book to Big Screen • Quarter 2: Book of choice • Quarter 3: Utopian/Dystopian Society • Quarter 4: Classical Literature • These are to be books the student has not read before. It is an independent project, therefore they will be done out of class.

  9. Technology presentations • Students will be using different presentation formats for each of their independent reading projects.

  10. Homework help • Homework hub Monday through Thursday until 4:50 in the media center. At the homework hub students will have access to computers for their school projects and a teacher to help them. The students can take the late bus home at 4:50. • D House: We are each staying an afternoon so the students can come to our room and get help in a specific area. • I will be here on Wednesdays. If your student needs any help in Language Arts, Please have them come in.
